But we had made the drive, so we decided to check it out. And I am so glad that we did. Colin absolutely loved it! He didn't notice the dilapidated airplane - he was a fighter pilot. There was no notice of the rust that covered the trucks - he was a truck driver. The noise from the old engines running the rides added to the imaginative play instead of scaring him. He even got to play cowboy and take a ride on a real life pony. Kiddie Acres turned out to be quite an adventure for Colin and it definitely was a good lesson for the both of us.

Sept 28
One of the surprising joys of parenthood has been the ability to see the world through Colin's eyes. Everyday, mundane things to me are new, exciting and worthy of exploration for Colin. This has definitely made me notice more of the world around me, making me appreciate the small details that so often go unnoticed. Case in point - Cameron and I stumbled on a place up north called Kiddie Acres that boasted fun rides for all ages. We decided we had to go and take Colin and since it would be his first amusement park we were both very excited. After the half an hour drive, we pulled up to what looked like an abandoned park from the 1950's. There were only eight rides and every one of them were rusted and looked like they would fall apart at any moment. The grounds were nothing but dirt and the concession stand was just sad. Before I turned off the engine to the car, we actually considered leaving.
