July 5

We have been trying to enjoy this summer but it's been a bit difficult given the 100 degree heat every day. So, when Cameron had a week off of work, we tried to think of a place we could go that would be fun for us and Colin and be manageable for Hannah in this crazy heat. We decided on Moody Gardens in Galveston. It had a nice hotel, a wonderful man made beach that had toddler water slides and kiddie pools, an aquarium and lots of other activities that we could take advantage of both in doors and out. Also, Galveston has plenty of restaurants that are kid friendly and we all know that they can use all the income they can get to help with the rebuilding efforts.

We spent two days at Moody Gardens and spent most of our time either at the beach or at the pool. I think Colin could live in the water if we let him. We did make him dry off long enough to tour the acquarium and have dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. If you haven't been to a Rainforest Cafe before then I should explain that they have animals (gorillas, elephants, birds, etc..) that come 'alive' every ten minutes. Colin at first was intrigued but when they kept coming on he decided that he didn't trust them and made Cameron keep an arm around him the rest of the meal.

On our way back home, we stopped off in Houston to meet up with Diem, Chloe and Taylor at the Houston Children's Museum. The HCM has an entire floor dedicated to toddlers and the kids loved it. By the end of this day, Colin was pretty exhausted and ready for home.

I was a little nervous about being out of our comfort zone for the first time with both kids but all in all it turned out really well. I'm so glad we went. I've included some pictures and a little video from our trip below. Enjoy!
